The title of this blog is, in fact, inspired by one of Dave's songs, Ants Marching. The lyrics speak of people living a monotonous life, like ants marching in a row - "they all do it the same." The line that speaks to me goes like this: "Take these chances, place them in a box until quieter times, lights down, you up and die." If you let your fears overcome you, refusing to face challenges and become brave, you'll die without ever getting the chance to truly live.
It's why I ice-skate - not because I'm good at it and will surely succeed, but because I'm not good at it, and it's an activity that scares me just a little bit, rattling my nerves. I have this theory that brave people have more fears than most. That's what makes them brave - they courageously overcome. A life without fear needs no courage. So face your fears head-on, live full lives, step lively, and take these chances day by day.
